Bryn Lutek, originally from Toronto, began percussion at a young age. His first musical experience was in jazz drumset; he studied with Toronto jazz drummer Barry Romberg and attended the Humber College Community Jazz program. At the age of fifteen he began studying orchestral percussion at the Royal Concervatory or Music Toronto with John Wong and playing in the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra under the coaching of David Kent and John Rudolph, both of whom he continues to study with.
Bryn is currently completing the final year of his Bachelor’s degree in Performance at the McGill Schulich School of Music, studying with Aiyun Huang and guest professor Andrei Malashenko. He performs regularly with the McGill Symphony Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble. In the summers of 2014 and 2015 he played with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada under the conducting of Emmanuel Villaume and Michael Francis.
