General Conditions General Conditions <h3>General Conditions</h3><ol><li><strong>Value and Terms:</strong> The precise terms and value of the scholarship is given in the confirmation letter. Tenure of the award(s) is restricted to full-time students registered at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University.</li><li><strong>Eligibility Conditions: </strong><ul><li>Scholarship awardees may not hold other major awards concurrently.</li><li>Scholarship awardees must, if eligible, have applied and continue to apply annually for external funding offered by at least 1 major Canadian granting agency, if eligible (e.g., CGSM or D, NSERC/SSHRC) AND if eligible, 1 Quebec agency (FRQ). Awardees not eligible for these awards must show proof that they are actively applying for other external grants.</li><li>External grant applications have been recommended for funding at the first stage of the competition (within the Schulich School of Music rankings).</li><li>Awardees must report to the Schulich School of Music Graduate Office within one month if they are offered funding from another source (external or internal).</li><li>The Schulich School of Music reserves the right to reapportion your funding if you are offered funding from another source (external or internal). In such cases, your total funding, including external sources, will never be less than that offered in this letter.</li><li>Recipients are expected to maintain a strong academic standing throughout the tenure of their award. Students whose GPA or CGPA falls below 3.7 will be subject to review and may not be eligible for a renewal of their award.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Awardees must inform the Schulich School of Music Graduate Office immediately of any change in income and/or change in registration status which may affect eligibility.</strong></li><li><strong>Academic Income:</strong> This includes all external fellowships and awards, as well as any income from McGill or institutes associated with McGill (in the form of teaching assistantships or instructorships, research assistantships or stipends, departmental fellowships and awards, other departmental support and Differential Fee Waivers, etc.) This must be indicated by awardees on this form. The value of the scholarship may be adjusted depending on the level of total academic income.</li><li><strong>Remunerative Employment:</strong> Students cannot hold or accept full-time employment while holding an award. Graduate students should normally be entitled to vacation leave equivalent to university holidays and an additional total of fifteen (15) working days in the year. Funded students with fellowships and research grant stipends taking additional vacation leave may have their funding reduced accordingly. In order to maintain full-time status, a graduate student should not work more than 180 hours per term over 15 weeks with 12 hours per week. Funded students working more than these hours may have their funding reduced.</li><li><strong>Fellowship Acceptance and Payment:</strong> It is the responsibility of awardees to inform themselves about and comply, in a timely manner, with all administrative requirements governing the payment of their award. Failure to do so may result in the scholarship being given to another student.<ul><li>To accept/renew a Schulich School of Music award, awardees must complete/agree and submit this online form no later than August 1st. Fellowships are paid according to the disbursement schedule indicated in the Award Information Sheet.</li><li>Payment is contingent upon receipt of this form and verification of awardees' registration status. External awards may have additional restrictions or obligations.</li></ul></li><li><strong>The Schulich School of Music Graduate Studies Office reserves the right</strong> to substitute this internal scholarship with another internal award of equal or better value, should this be necessary.</li><li><strong>Letters of Appreciation:</strong> Each year, awardees are required to write letters of appreciation to the award donor. Letters must be emailed by October 15<sup>th</sup>. We ask that scholarship recipients authorize the Dean’s Office to release a brief account of their achievements.
