McGill’s Schulich School of Music will be hosting a conference this weekend entitled Music and Genre: New Directions. The event will bring together an international panel of scholars from a variety of fields to advance thinking about musical genre. Two MGSS members, Mimi Haddon and Eric Smialek, will be presenting papers. We encourage you to attend if you are able! A press release with additional information is available here.
We’ve announced the date and time of our first general assembly for the 2014-15 school year. You can find additional information on the event page. We hope to see you there!
Due to the extreme likelihood of rain tomorrow afternoon (8/31), the MGSS picnic in Parc Lafontaine will, unfortunately, not be able to take place as planned. While there is no indoor backup planned, we hope that you will join us at 7pm on 9/5 for the first Library After Hours of the semester.
On behalf of MGSS, I’d like to welcome you to a new year at McGill’s Schulich School of Music! Our executive council has organized a few events over the coming week to provide an opportunity for new and old faces to gather together and become (re)acquainted before the semester begins. Please consult the schedule on the Events Page and feel free to join us whenever you can!
We wish you success in the coming academic year and look forward to seeing you later this week!
Farley Miller (President MGSS 2014-15)
