The SEART LAB is primarily focused on the study of control room acoustics. Current research involves the investigation of changes in acoustic condition, with measurements taken during interactive, task-based listening tests. Studies generally involve expert listeners, drawn from the graduate program in sound recording at the Schulich School, as well as a number of regular participants from local industry.
SEART is currently funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and the lab enjoys a strong affiliation with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music, Media, and Technology (CIRMMT).
