You can reach out to\u00a0<strong>James <\/strong>or<strong> Seungwoo<\/strong> for help with an efficient Pro Tools\/Pyramix workflow.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Step #1: Sign up for a concert recording<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each SR1 &amp; SR2 records a minimum of 3 concerts per semester. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are required to attend the dress rehearsal. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You cannot miss class to record a concert.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you sign-up, you are committed. If you suddenly can&#8217;t make it, you need to find a replacement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Step #2: Preparation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can find information for your concert as well as rehearsal on <em>booking.music.mcgill.ca<\/em>. If you would like to know more information, contact the production office who can put you in touch with the musicians.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regardless of the concert type or complexity <em>you must plan for a set-up that allows you to create an excellent live stereo mix.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Book the gear and halls, there is no priority access, so book early!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear appropriate clothing (all back or dress clothes with indoor footwear).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Step #3: <\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Before the Concert<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You should be completely set-up before the dress rehearsal begins. The dress rehearsal is used for refining microphone position and setting your live mix.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interface with the stage managers and musicians during this time to determine priorities and resolve issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the dress is done, you should arrive <strong>at least 1 hour<\/strong> before the concert beginning to double check your setup. This means all mics checked and live mix ready to go with basic settings BEFORE taking a break to run and get food etc. For webcasts, this includes checking the MC mic split if needed, also please ask if there will be an MC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DAW Folder Structure and File Naming<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please do not include any accents or special characters in any file names destined for MLAPS. Your call.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There should be 1-2 seconds of noise floor before music at each track beginning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The use of a master limiter and the final LUFS of the master is at your discretion but should meet industry standards for the genre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exception<\/strong><strong>for concerts with video webcast:<\/strong> Prepare the version described above <em>in addition<\/em> to a special video version: fully continuous without edits (except for when the recorder was stopped). Bounce from the beginning of when you hit record until the recorder was stopped.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Please note:<\/em> when recording with timecode sync to the video team, you must use the Pyramix &#8220;Mixdown&#8221; function in order to preserve the timecode relation in the exported WAV files. Generate CD\/Digital Delivery resets the timecode references.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deliverables<\/strong> (the type of deliverable is indicated on the sign-up sheet)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MLAPS\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>96kHz\/24bit stereo interleaved BWF files for each track\/movement listed in the concert program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recording log with an entry for each track. <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.music.mcgill.ca\/sr\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/17\/files\/2013\/10\/Concert-Log-Template.xlsx\">Click here<\/a> to download the current concert recording log. <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.music.mcgill.ca\/sr\/files\/2017\/11\/mcr20171013r1930_BaroqueOrchestra_LOG.xlsx\">here<\/a> is a filled example.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PDF of the program (download from the Production Office website)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upload the deliverables + DAW session folder to MLAPS using the folder structure and naming outlined above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MLAPS + Video Webcast\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The same deliverables as &#8220;MLAPS&#8221; + the separate video edit in the appropriately named folder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This form dispatches an elf that does all of the work for you.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">(Timecode Appendix)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For concert recordings which are being webcast, you will need to run timecode in your session. After a few seconds, timecode should read LOCKED. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: When you lock timecode, you may not be able to monitor your inputs<\/em>. <em>This is because incoming timecode has made Pyramix go into playback until you hit record.
