Visa, CAQ, Etc.

The international student services office is your best resource for information about Visas, CAQs etc. They have drop-in-hours that you can use to answer specific questions, but the majority of information can be found on their website. Information about extending your stay is available here. Work permit information is here. They reside in Suite 3215 of the Brown Student Service Building.
Legal Information and Advocacy

The Legal Information Clinic at McGill is a non-profit, student-run, bilingual and free legal information service. They can provide information and advocacy, but not legal advice. Their drop-in-hours, telephone numbers, and more information can be found on their website.
Student Health Services

If you get sick, or injured, this is the on campus clinic. It is a busy place, so in order to get an appointment, you plan on arriving 15-20mins before doors open that day. Otherwise, it will be 3 weeks or more to see a doctor there. There are other off-campus clinics available to you that will certainly have less wait, but may require additional costs.
Mental Health Services

The McGill Mental Health Service provides a secure, non-judgmental and confidential space for all students. The team includes psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists who are available by appointment for assessment and treatment of a variety of psychological difficulties. The reception is on the 5th floor of the Brown Student Services building room 5500. More information is available on their website.
French Lessons

French lessons are just one of the possible leisure courses available at Thompson House. Courses usually cost around $90 for 12 weeks of 2-hour lessons, and are taught by Ashod Alemain, a talented and supportive instructor. You can find out about french lessons and other leisure courses on the PGSS website.
Bike Repair

The Flat Bike Collective is an on-campus student organization for bike repair and maintenance. They have a shop with tools, parts, and expertise that is freely available in the afternoons about three days per week. Just be warned, this is a “hands-off” collective. They can show you how to do the job, but you’ll be the one cranking the wrench. They are also in the SSMU building ground floor. Find out more information on their website.
Shag Shop

The Shag Shop is your on-campus safer sex & health boutique. We sell condoms, lubricants and other safer sex products at rock-bottom prices (ie. cheap). We also sell alternative menstrual products, massage oils, toys, books, non-hormonal contraceptives, pregnancy tests and more. They are located in the Brown Student Service building by the health center on Peel street.
Drivesafe

One number not to forget. Drivesafe patrols drive students safely home from anywhere on the Island of Montreal for free. Friday and Saturday nights 11pm-3am: 514 398 8040. More information is available on their website.
The McGill Conservatory

Private lessons are available through the McGill Conservatory at a third the price of the cost of enrolling in an official course with McGill. Lessons are about $45 for 1 hour and are taught by talented musicians and teachers. Their office is located on the main floor of the old music building. More information is available on their website.
